Chargers fall, Mounties win in tennis

Southmont defeated South Putnam 5-0 in boys tennis on Thursday.

At No. 1 singles Adam Cox defeated Tanner Pistelli 6-0, 6-1, while Trevor McKinney beat Brandon Rector 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and Conner McVay beat Jaxon Hodge 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.

In the doubles spots the duo of Reese Long and Micah Korhorn beat Nate Clearwaters and Robbie Fisher 6-1, 6-0, while Luke Tesmer and EJ Brewer beat Marcus and Brady Robinson 7-5, 7-6 (8-6) at No. 2 doubles. Southmont is now 10-2 on the season.

North Montgomery lost to Greencastle 5-0.

At No. 1 singles Jakob Kirsch was defeated by Trent Ross 6-0, 6-0, while Carter Livingston lost to Anthony Conley 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, and Brookes Walters fell 6-2, 6-0 to Holton Miller in the No. 3 spot.

The duo of Will McKinniss and Hunter Kashon fell to Collin Gasway and Henry Carter 6-2, 4-6, 10-5 at No. 1 doubles, and Hayden Turner and Haze Kashon lost to Eli Hardwick and Boyd Ensley 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Mounties win, Chargers fall in golf

Southmont’s girls golf team celebrated their seniors with a 185-252 win over Fountain Central on Thursday at the Crawfordsville Country Club.

Logan Berrisford and Lexi Rusk were the co-medalists with 45’s, while Carson White fired a 47. Bailey Thompson had a 48, and Erin Williams a 49. 

Gracie Foxworthy led the Mustangs with a 59, while Nola Walls and Aubrey Hicks fired a pair of 64’s, and Cassadi Parks shot a 65, and Emily Keeling a 69.

North Montgomery shot a 211, falling to Western Boone (189) and Danville (192). 

Grace Shrader led the Chargers with a 49, while Chloe Maxwell fired a 52, Grace Littell a 54, and Abbie Horn a 56. Ella Stultz shot a 58, Morgan Swick a 60, and Maggie Yeager a 64.

Chargers and Mounties both tie in girls soccer

North Montgomery’s girls soccer team played to a 2-2 draw with North Putnam on Thursday. Courtney Engels netted a goal, while Lydia Dugard picked up an assist. Sydnee Turner had six saves in goal.

The Southmont girl’s soccer team played to a 0-0 draw with Greencastle.

Athenians fall to Red Devils

West Lafayette swept Crawfordsville in volleyball Thursday evening 25-19, 25-14, 25-19. 

Shea Williamson led the Athenians with nine assists, five digs, and a kill, while Olivia Reed had 16 digs. Macy Bruton added 10 kills, four digs, and an ace. Abby Bannon had four kills, two digs, and two aces.
