Honor Flight of Greater Lafayette plans upcoming trip

Posted

Well the spring weather is here. I had 64 phone calls into my office this month and I had 15  visits into my office and we took seven  veterans to their appointments to the VA Hospital this month.

I will be at the American Legion Post 72 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday. I will be at the VFW Post 1431 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. April 20. Anyone can come into either Post to see me. You don’t need to be a member.

Honor Flight of Greater Lafayette is pleased to announce they are flying from West Lafayette to Washington, D.C. in April.

They are taking applications for the following veterans and military service years: World War II from Dec. 7, 1941 through Dec. 31, 1946; Korea from June 25, 1950 through July 27, 1963; and Vietnam from Feb. 28, 1961 to May 7, 1975. If a veteran has served at least one day of active duty, anywhere in the world, during these time frames, he or she is eligible to fly with us. Overseas service or combat service is not required. If a veteran’s service includes these dates he or she has earned their Honor Flight.

Phone 765-357-1000 for more information.

Vietnam proof of service or Afghanistan service: If you have an alcohol ration card for Vietnam or a pork ration card for those that were in Afghanistan, these can be used to prove you were in these countries.

Gary Bell and I traveled to the American Legion Post 64, Indianapolis, on March 29 and took part in the festive and we also got to say hello to Medal of Honor recipient Sammy L. Davis who spoke at the ceremony.
