November’s Lunch with the League of Women Voters will be held at noon Friday at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 212 S. Green St. and will host Scott Douglas, M.D., Montgomery County Health Officer. Douglas will talk about adult immunizations, which ones are recommended and who should get them.
Recently, vaccines and immunizations have become a hot button topic in the news. What vaccines and immunizations are recommended for adults are under scrutiny by the current Federal Health and Human Services. The policies and recommendations for vaccines and immunizations can be confusing. Dr. Douglas will talk about the recommendations for immunizations for adults, including Flu, COVID-19, MMR, Shingles and other immunizations and will answer questions to help clear up confusion.
Described as a “blessing to Montgomery County,” Douglas has served the Montgomery County Health Department as the health officer for 10 years. He has carried the department through the worst health crisis, COVID, and has been an invaluable resource for the health department and community. Douglas was named the Indiana Rural Health Association’s 2026 Doc Hollywood Award, which recognizes physicians who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to improving health care in Indiana’ rural and underserved communities.
The presentation will be followed by free flu and COVID-19 vaccines offered by the county health department
