WAVELAND — The Indiana Department of Transportation announces an intermittent closure on State Road 59 between Cross Street and C.R. 1150S in Waveland.

Beginning on or after Monday, a soft, intermittent closure will begin to install storm pipes.

The closure will allow property owner access.

There will be short-term closures for the installation, which will typically be done in phases with one lane being maintained with flagging.

Restrictions will last 24 hours a day and are expected to be finished by August of 2024.

The official detour for the project will be S.R. 59 south to S.R. 236, east to U.S. 231, north to S.R. 234, west to S.R. 47, south to S.R. 59, stretching just under 25 miles.

INDOT encourages all drivers to use caution while driving in this area and keep worker safety in mind.

This includes slowing down in and around work zones and avoiding distracted driving.
