Ivy Tech plans info session on cyber-security careers

Data breaches. Ransomware. Denial of service attacks. The security of computer networks is constantly in the headlines. Because of these threats, the need for cybersecurity professionals is expected to grow 31 percent by 2029 according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Ivy Tech Community College Lafayette offers degree and certificate programs in Cybersecurity that can help student launch a high-demand career. Anyone interested in a career in cybersecurity is invited to attend an online panel discussion with industry professionals and information technology instructors from Ivy Tech.

The panel will share information about careers in cybersecurity and how Ivy Tech can help students start an exciting career in a fast-growing field. The lunch and learn session will allow for Q&A from participants.

Panel members include: Dr. Dustin Hutchinson, president and COO, Pondurance; Drew Kirts, cybersecurity manager, Vyne Dental; and Pam Schmelz, professor and department chair, School of Information Technology, Ivy Tech Columbus.

Careers in Cybersecurity will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 12.
