Jacob Theodore Baker, 82, of Perrysville died at 2:10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2024, at Hickory Creek of Crawfordsville.

He was born Nov. 26, 1941, at Danville, Illinois, the son of William and Anneita Gose Baker. Jacob graduated from Schlarman High School in 1959 and attended Danville Area Community College. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Korea.

Jacob married Nikke Fultz on Aug. 12, 1967, at Cayuga. She died Dec. 6, 2000.

Jacob was also preceded in death by his parents; son Nathan Baker, granddaughter Journey Baker; and sister Jeanne Baker.

Survivors include: six children, Jacob T. Baker Jr. of Mohave Valley, Arizona, Kathleen (Jeffery) Harvey of Covington, Daniel (Amy) Baker of Perrysville, Joshua Baker of Perrysville, Amanda (Joshua) Griffin of Newport and Christina (Douglas) Holt of Perrysville; three sisters, Mary Ellen (Robert) Stoutenour of Danville, Indiana, Susan (John) Morphy of Perrysville and Kathryn (Henry) Schmitt of Covington; two brothers, Jonathon (Charlotte) Baker and William Baker, both of Perrysville; 20 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Jacob retired from Raybestos in Crawfordsville. He enjoyed playing basketball, playing cards, fishing and mushroom hunting. Jacob loved spending time with his grandkids and watching them in school activities and sports. He will be dearly missed by his family.

Funeral mass will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Covington, with Father David Rasner officiating. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Church Hall. Burial will be at Lower Mound Cemetery in Covington.
