Judith Arlene (Zackmire) Chumley of Ladoga passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 6, 2024, at Whitlock Place in Crawfordsville. She was 84.  

Judy was born July 16, 1939, at Kingman, to the late Pearl Lee and Kathleen Jackson Zackmire. On Aug. 17, 1957, she married Leland Hugh Chumley.  

Judy worked for several years at Ladoga Elementary School as a teacher’s aide in the special needs class.   

Judy enjoyed basket weaving, sewing, oil painting, knitting, crocheting, flower gardening and reading. She made numerous baskets and gifted them to family and friends. Some of her artwork and other handmade items will be displayed at the service 

Her favorite places that she visited during her travels were Mesa Verde, Alaska and the Panama Canal.

She is survived by her husband, Leland; three daughters, Lelane (Bob) Luttrell of Crawfordsville, Penny (Ehrich Thomas) Chumley of Graham, North Carolina, and Amanda (Rian) Yablun of Spring Grove, Illinois; two granddaughters Taylor Driscoll and Makenna Yablun; and step-granddaughter Sadie Thomas Ragen. 

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Neil and five sisters, Velma Zackmire, Ruth Anna Sutton, Wilma Woodrow, Mary Foxworthy and Maureen Moody. 

A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10 at Servies & Morgan Funeral Home, 203 N. Washington St., Ladoga, officiated by Pastor Ron Gardner of Ladoga Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Ladoga Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in her memory to the Mountie Mission, P.O. Box 54, Ladoga, IN 47954.
