Keith Adair Castelluccio, 96, of Indianapolis passed away May 1, 2023.

He was born Oct. 6, 1926, at Richmond, the eldest of five to the late Nicholas and Idamary “Maida” (Van Voorhis) Castelluccio. Keith graduated from Richmond High School in 1944. He attended one semester at Earlham College before turning 18. Keith then entered the United States Army for World War II where he was sent to the Philippines for two years. Upon returning home to Richmond, Keith went back to Earlham College receiving his bachelor’s degree in 1950 and later earning his master’s degree from Ball State University in 1957. He married Carla Jean Lohman also of Richmond on June 9, 1953.

Keith dedicated his life to teaching history and coaching at several Indiana high schools including Centerville, Lagrange, Spiceland, and Crawfordsville. In 1961 the family moved to Indianapolis, where he taught history at Lawrence Central High School and ran the scoreboard at the football and basketball games for many years. Keith developed Meniere’s disease in the 1980’s which eventually lead to the loss of his hearing and forced him to retire from teaching at Lawrence Central in 1988 after 27 years.

Upon retirement Keith enjoyed walking the family dogs and helping his son Jan’s SCCA sport car racing. He was a lifelong baseball fan of the old St. Louis Browns, the Cincinnati Reds and the Chicago Cubs.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 67 years, Carla Jean (Lohman) Castelluccio, and brother Curtis Castelluccio of Crawfordsville.

Keith leaves behind to cherish his memories: sister Gloria Castelluccio of Indianapolis; brothers, Warren (Ann) Castelluccio of Renton, Washington, and Rick (Karen) Castelluccio of McCordsville; sister-in-law Shirley Castelluccio of Crawfordsville; sons, Jan Castelluccio, Peter Castelluccio and Eric (Jude Johnson) Castelluccio, all of Indianapolis; daughter Susan (Doug) Griffin of Cicero; grandsons, Nicholas (Dawn) Griffin of Ormond Beach, Florida and Marcus (Tiffany) Griffin of Cicero; and great-grandsons, Logan and Hunter Griffin of Ormond Beach, Florida.
