Kirtley re-appointed Senior Judge

Posted

The Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission has certified to the Supreme Court of the State of Indiana that Raymond M. Kirtley is qualified to be appointed as Senior Judge until Dec. 31.

In 1989, the Indiana legislature authorized the creation of the senior judge program, allowing Indiana courts to use the services of retired judges to supplement existing judicial resources. The Indiana Supreme Court may appoint senior judges to serve a circuit court, a superior court, a probate court, the tax court or court of appeals. A senior judge may be used as replacement when the regular judge is unavailable; a complement to the sitting judges; or to oversee the process of certain types of cases or court programs.

Kirtley was first certified as Senior Judge in 2013 and served as Judge of the Montgomery County Court from 1985-2002.
