Klein will speak at lunch event

Posted

Tom Klein, County Administrator, will be the October speaker at Lunch with the League, hosted by the League of Women Voters of Montgomery County, at noon Friday. Klein will talk about the Montgomery County Comprehensive Plan, its history and its use as a guide or framework in land use planning or review.

The comprehensive plan was developed in 2019 in response to public concern about a proposal for windmill farm development. Most recently, the plan has been invoked during hearings by the County Planning Commission when discussing and making recommendations on a proposal for a solar farm in the county. Described as a framework for the decision-making process regarding the development and growth of management of Montgomery County, the plan has helped shape the recommendations of the Montgomery County Planning Commission and the decisions of county commissioners since 2019. The updated 2024 comprehensive plan can be found on the county’s website at https://www.montgomerycounty.in.gov/egov/documents/1716986274_92635.pdf

Klein is the administrative head of the county’s government and works under the supervision of the county commissioners. Klein was hired in 2020 to assist in the administration and enforcement of policies and resolutions of the county commissioners and to supervise the activities of county government, subject to the control of the county.

Bring your brown bag lunch or grab a lunch from one of the many restaurants and eateries around town, and join the League at Whitlock Hall, 212 S. Green St., located in the St. John’s Episcopal Church at noon Friday.

The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan organization whose interest is informing the public on issues of vital interest. Unless otherwise indicated, Lunch with the League takes place the first Friday of each month, starting at noon in Whitlock Hall. All Lunch with the League events are open to the public and will allow time for questions and answers at the end of each presentation.
