The Knights of Columbus Council 1591 held its annual Tootsie Roll Drive kick-off dinner recently.
Ben Gregory, a Special Olympic athelete, spoke briefly to the group about his experiences through the years and how they have helped him in life.
Grand Knight Bernie Williams told the group that last year the local council raised $13,226 for the local Montgomery-Parke Special Olympics.
Over the past 16 years the council has donated $148,014 to Special Olympics.
Richard Pond and Jim Gineris are co-chairing this year’s Tootsie Roll events. The street corner event will be held May 10-11, the weekend before the Area 4 Spring Games at North Montgomery High School.
