Letter: Reader points to Scripture to defend life

Posted

The proponents of ending life in the womb are in a tizzy because of the Supreme Court ruling of 2022 that allows the various states to establish their own laws regarding abortion. The media hype that abortions have been banned is patently false.

I am reminded of Psalm 2:1 that says: “Why do the heathen rage and the people imagine a vain thing”? (KJV) The answer to this question is found in the Book of Isaiah 5:20-21.

One of the catchwords of abortion advocates is, “it is my constitutional right.” Nowhere in the constitution is there any right for ending life in the womb merely for the sake of convenience. The preamble to our Declaration of Independence states that life is an unalienable right endowed by the Creator and amendments 5 and 14 guarantee the protection of life.

The Book of Deuteronomy instructs that we are to choose life (30:19). From Psalm 139:13-14 we learn that we are exquisitely and wonderfully made. There are numerous Scriptures that reference life in the womb and include Psalm 127:3-5; Isaiah 44:2 and 24, 49:1 and 5 and Jeremiah 1:5.
