After a bout with COVID, which affected her Myasthenia Gravis, Linda “Linny” Lou Collins departed peacefully from this earth at 3:40 p.m. Feb. 21, 2024, surrounded by daughter Michelle Albitz, son-in-law Andy Albitz, grandson Austin Albitz and her beloved nieces, Joni Hutchison and Rachael Harris, and nephews, Jon Harris and Chris Harris. She is now reunited with her husband Ralph, family members and pets that have gone before her.

Linda was born Feb. 25, 1939, at New Ross, to Sherman Harris and Gretchen Walker Harris. She married Ralph Collins on Feb. 26, 1961.

Linda and Ralph welcomed their daughter Michelle to the family on March 31, 1969. Linda and Ralph remained in their home in Crawfordsville until 2015 when they moved to their cottage in Mulberry to be closer to their daughter’s family.

Linda cherished her family, her pets, shopping and garage sales. She was a collector of many things, but especially Occupied Japan dishes and figures. Linda liked going to car shows and was very proud of the 1967 Olds Convertible that she gifted to her grandson, Austin. She enjoyed watching Austin play sports, and was very proud of his academic accomplishments. Linda was a huge Purdue fan and recently began following the Purdue Women’s Basketball program that Austin helps manage.  Everyone who knew Linda, knew about the Chihuahuas, Chip and Griffin. During her life, she had a pet Spider Monkey named Peanut, many cats, dogs, rabbits, fish, guinea pigs, gerbils and hamsters.  Linda loved all of God’s creatures.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister Shirley Cummings; nephew Brian Cummings; best friend Janet Albitz; and many special brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law from both the Harris and Collins’ sides of the family.

She leaves behind brother Jerry Harris of New Ross; daughter Michelle; son-in-law Andy; grandson Austin; and many, many nieces and nephews from both sides of the family. Each of them held very special places in her heart.
