Local groups dedicated to feeding families

Pace Dairy Foods, the Montgomery County Community Foundation and Hoosier Heartland State Bank worked together to distribute cheese to three local entities dedicated to feeding children and families in need.

Approximately 2,000 pounds of cheese was donated to Fuzzy Bear Preschool, Grace and Mercy Church and the Crossroad Food Pantry.

Pace Dairy site leader, Tracy Mobley, contacted Kelly Taylor with the MCCF early on Wednesday to ask her to assist in identifying local charities who could not only ensure the use of the product, but, have the cooler space to accommodate the large amount of cheese. Mobley was particularly interested in assisting with programs that would help feed children during the current school closures. With Taylor’s help, the three locations were identified.

The next issue at hand was to provide transportation for the two pallets. HHSB, another generous business in our community offered the use of their box truck. Kyle Thompson, chief financial officer of MCCF, arrived at Pace Dairy on Wednesday afternoon to pick up and deliver the product.

Pace Dairy is proud to be a part of the Montgomery County Community. We are known as the “Plant with the Big Heart.” It is with caring and concern for our local children and families that we provide this product to help those in need during this unprecedented event.
