LOCAL ROUNDUP: CHS Track sweeps CP, Chargers win in baseball, golf, and tennis

TRACK AND FIELD

Athenians sweep Gophers

The Crawfordsville track and field teams swept Clinton Prairie on Monday.

The boys won 112-20, while the girls won 85-47.

On the boys’ side, the 4X800 meter relay team of Tyeson Fuller, Ian Hensley, and Ryan Miller won with a time of 9:18.23, while the foursome of Ziair Morgan, Fuller, Alex Kellerman, and Ty Lynas won the 4X100 meter relay in 47.04 seconds and Fuller, Kellerman, Lynas, and Mikale Willis won the 4X400 meter relay with a time of 3:51.

Hutchison also won the two-mile run with a time of 10:42, while Hensley won the 800 meter run in 2:22.2 and Morgan won the 300 meter hurdles in 46.79 seconds, and Miller the one-mile run in 5:14.27.

Willis swept the 100, 200, and 400 meter dashes with times of 11.88 seconds, 25.35 seconds, and 54.83 seconds respectively. Lynas won the 110 meter hurdles in 15.8 seconds, and the high jump with a leap of 6-feet. Kaigen Fields jumped 15-feet-8-inches to win the long jump, while Nate Schroeter swept the discus and shot put. The senior threw 125-feet-10-inches in the discus and an even 40 feet in the shot put.

On the girls side, the foursome of Olivia Biddle, Shelby Greene, Halle Smith, and Gabby Warren won the 4X800 meter relay with a time of 13:11.59, while Parker Hartman, Emily Powell, Aaliyah Strawser and Shea Williamson won the 4X100 meter relay in 55.98 seconds, and Skylah Strawser, Karla Fernandez, Elyse Widmer, and Shea Williamson won the 4X400 meter relay in 5:02.

Greene won the two-mile run in 14:11, Smith the 800 meter run in 2:56.68, Skylah Strawser the 400 meter run in 1:12.35. seconds and Smith the mile run in 6:20.42. Ellie Hutchison won the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 57.91 seconds, while Williamson won the 100 meter dash in 14.42 seconds.  

In the field Kristen Thompson won the pole vault with a mark of 6-feet-6-inches.

BASEBALL

Chargers back in win column

The North Montgomery baseball team bounced back from its first loss with a 9-5 win at Seeger on Monday to improve to 7-1 on the season.

Mounties drop SAC game

The Southmont baseball team went on the road and fell 4-0 at Frankfort on Monday. 

Adam Cox, Chayce Howell, and Braydon McCloud had the lone three hits for the Mounties. 

GOLF

North golfers win

The North Montgomery boys’ golf team defeated Attica 194-243 at Rocky Ridge on Monday evening. 

Hayden Turner was the medalist with a 46, while Alex Chapman fired a 48, Drew Norman a 49, and Haze Kashon a 51. Thomas Fritzen fired a 58, Colin Campbell a 61, Jacob Hughes a 64, and Landon Birge a 66.

Mustangs second in four-way

The Fountain Central boys’ golf team fired a 195 to finish second in a four-way meet on Monday night.

Wesley Jackson (43) and Nathan Summers (47) led the Mustangs. Jacob Keeling fired a 52 and Cody Linville a 53.

TENNIS

Charger tennis beats Bronchos

The North Montgomery girls’ tennis team defeated Lafayette Jeff 3-2 on Monday night.

Kaitlyn Greenlee defeated Ashley Casey 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, while Carlie DeSmet beat Sydney King 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 3 spot. The duo of Joy Davis and Allison Guard defeated Yvanna Abig and Julia Harrison 6-1, 7-6(7-5) at No. 1 doubles.

Sydnee Turner lost 7-5, 7-6(7-2) to Audley Eggold at No. 2 singles, while Courtney Engels and Paige Hudson fell 6-4, 6-1 to Ashley Perez and Ariel Stimson at No. 2 doubles.

Athenians fall to Trojans

The Crawfordsville girls’ tennis team fell to Covington on Monday night 3-2.

Samantha Rohr picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles over Amber Cruiser, while Lilly Klingbeil and Elyse Widmer beat Cora Reynolds and Daisy Goeppner 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles.

Lauren Hale fell 6-0, 6-1 to Grace Wright at No. 1 singles, while Hannah McLean lost 6-0, 7-5 to Nava Pettit at No. 2 singles and Cathleen McGrady and Ella Hudson lost 6-4, 6-3 to Karysn Engle and Emma Taylor at No. 1 doubles.

SOFTBALL

Chargers fall to Trojans

The North Montgomery softball team fell at Covington 20-9 on Monday night.

Cascie Keller led the Charges with two hits, while Mallory Morehouse drove in three runs.

Athenians fall to Patriots

The Crawfordsville softball team dropped a non-conference road contest 24-7 at Seeger on Monday.

Allyson Barton, Laine Schlicher, and Halle Elliott each had two hits for the Athenians, while Kaylie Miller drove in three runs. 

Mounties fall to Wolves

The Southmont softball team dropped a 16-11 contest at Parke Heritage on Monday.
