Williams late goal lifts Mounties

The Southmont girls’ soccer team impoved its record to 3-1-1 on the season with a 1-0 victory at Covington on Saturday.

Elle Gray found Alivia Williams for the second half goal to lift the Mounties past the Trojans.

“Our whole team did a great job today, but Emma Phillips, Justin Troutman, Ashlynn Maddox and Chloe Lynn did a great job of playing defense today,” Southmont coach Phil Keller said.

South draws with Covington

The Southmont boys’ soccer team tied Covington 1-1 on Saturday.

Mounties 1-1 at WeBo Invite

The Southmont boys’s tennis team beat Western Boone 4-1 and lost 3-2 to Covington at the Western Boone Invite on Saturday.

Hayden Hess at No. 3 singles and Harrison Haddock and Chayce Howell at No. 2 doubles each went 2-0 on the day.

Mustangs compete at RP Invite

The Fountain Central cross country teams competed at the Riverton Parke Invite on Saturday.

Hayden Kler finished second in the boys’ race, while Braiely Hoagland placed fifth in the girls race. Hadlee McBride was 15th.

Senior Golf Results

The Crawfordsville men’s senior golf league has met the last two Friday’s for their weekly 18-hole scramble at Crawfordsville Municipal Golf Course.

On Aug. 20, the team of Dave Hart, Mike Fry, Steve Burkle, Steve Snyder, and Dave Crispin won with a score of (-10) under par. Jim Whte, Ed Bayless, John Lewis, Jay Fuima, and Joe Irvin were second, while Sonny Shelton, Gary Duncan, Lou Mason, Bill Sheldon, and Greg Simpson were third.

Bill Boone won the proxy on No. 4 and Jim White on No. 12. Ed Bayless won the long drive.

This past Friday, the tema of Dave Hart, Dick VanArsdel, Dwight Michael, Steve Winningham, and Dave Crispin won with a score of (-12) under par, while Jim White, Damon Douglas, Steve Burkle, Brad Kenny, and Lou Mason were second. Dick Baker, Bill Franklin, Fred Phelps, Steve Snyder, and Jeff Bartlett were third.

Joe Noble won the proxy on No. 5 and Alan Personett on No. 13. Dick Baker won the long drive.
