LOCAL SPORTS: Athenian volleyball remains perfect, Cville and North golf shoot season lows

Athenians shoot season low

The Crawfordsville girls’ golf team shot a season low 198 on Monday and defeated Terre Haute North 201.

Bailey Mittal led the Athenians with a 40, while Evie Redding shot a 47, Gwyn Redding a 55, and Carli Payne shot a 56. Sadie Walker fired a 61.

Chargeres beat Mustangs, Red Ramblers

The North Montgomery girls’ golf team defeated Fountain Central with a season low 203-216 and competed against Attica. 

The Red Ramblers’ Jocelyn Kerr was the medalist with a 48. 

Grace Littell led the Chargers with a 49, Ella Stultz shot a personal best 50, while Morgan Swick and Maggie Yeager shot 52s. Grace Shrader shot a 55, Rylie Koopman a 64, and Shayna Ratcliff a 59.

Nola Walls led Fountain Central with a 51 and Cassadi Parks a 55. Emily Keeling shot a personal best 56, and Aubrey Campbell a personal best 54.

Mounties sweep Warriors

The Southmont boys’ tennis team defeated Sagamore Conference foe Danville 5-0.

Adam Cox defeated Luke Phillips at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-3, while Luke Tesmer beat Garrett Thomas 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 singles, and Luke Watson beat Peyton Bickel 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.

The duo of Mason Hall and Micah Korhorn beat Jared Dike and Sam Gibbonse 6-0, 6-3. Chayce Howell and Harrison Haddock beat Chase Taylor and Nolyn Greci 6-1, 7-6 (7-1 tiebreak).

Southmont is now 3-6 on the season.

Athenians remain perfect

The Crawfordsville volleyball team remained perfect on the season with a 3-1 (25-20, 23-25, 25-23, 25-18) win over Benton Central.

Macy Bruton led the Athenians (8-0) with 27 kills and 30 digs. Laine Schlicher had five kills, 15 digs and 22 assists, while Shea Williamson added 22 digs and 19 assisrs. Olivia Reed had 18 digs and Alyx Bannon had 11 kills and six digs.
