LOCAL SPORTS: Athenians move to 10-0 in volleyball

Athenians move to 10-0

The Crawfordsville volleyball team moved to 10-0 on the season with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-4, 25-5) win over Attica on Thursday night.

Laine Schlicher had 23 assists, 6 digs, and 4 aces, while Hallie Gayler had 2 digs, 2 blocks, and 2 kills. Macy Bruton had 20 kills, 10 aces, and 4 digs. Shea Williamson added 5 kills, an ace and an assist. Olivia Reed had 10 digs, Allyson Barton two digs, and Alyx Bannon 3 blocks and 4 kills. Halle Elliott had 2 digs.

Athenians earn road win over Tigers

The Crawfordsville boys’ soccer team went on the road and picked up a 3-1 Sagamore Conference victory over Lebanon on Thursday.

Patrick Corado scored a pair of goals, while Emmett Bowman added the third. Edwin Gil-Herrera had an assist and Landon Timmons had 15 saves.

The Athenians travel to Tri-West on Saturday.

Mounties fall to Cougars

The Southmont boys’ soccer team lost to North Putnam 4-1 on Thursday night.

Skyler Wood had the lone Mountie goal.

Mustangs fall at CC

The Fountain Central boys’ tennis team fell at Central Catholic 3-2 on Thursday night.

Carson Eberly picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles, while Jacob Keeling and CJ Yager beat Nolan Pickerill and Sam Siervers 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles.

Carter Merryman fell 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 singles to Griffin Chyall, while Koby Wolf lost to Michael Fusick 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 3 slot. Sawyer Keeling and Brayden Prickett fell 6-4, 7-5 at No. 2 doubles to Nathan Bapst and Calvin Pickerill.

Mustangs beat Cougars

The Fountain Central girls’ golf team earned a dual-meet win over North Putnam 223-234 on Thursday night.

Cassadi Parks led the Mustangs with a 53, while Nola Walls shot a 54, Aubrey Hucks a 56, and Emily Keeling a 60.

Athenians fall to Huskies

The Crawfordsville girls’ golf team competed against Frankfort and Hamilton Heights on Thursday, firing a 215, while the Huskies shot a 190.

Bailey Mittal led the Athenians with a 47, while Evie Redding shot a 48. Sadie Walker and Gwyn Redding each had 60s, while Carli Payne shot a 69.

Chargers, Mounties play at CCC

The North Montgomery (215) and Southmont (210) girls’ golf teams competed against McCutcheon (205) on Thursday night at the Crawfordsville Country Club.

Macie Shirk led the Mounties with a 49 to earn medalist honors. Taylor Grino shot a 52, Bailey Barker a 53 and Hanna Long and Olivia Gray 56s. Stella Snook shot a 58 and Courtlyn Carpenter a 62.

Grace Shrader led the Chargers with a 51, while Grace Littell fired a 54. Shayna Ratcliff had a person best 54, Morgan Swick and Ella Stultz each with a 56. Rylie Koopman fired a 60 and Maggie Yeager a 63.
