LOCAL SPORTS: Athenians pick up win in boys soccer, Allen and Hutchison win XC titles

CROSS COUNTRY: Allen, Hutchison win Tiger Cub Invite titles

The Crawfordsville and Southmont cross country teams competed at the Tiger Cub Invite on Saturday in Greencastle.

The Athenian boys’ were runner-up behind Sullivan with 69 points.

Hunter Hutchison was the individual champion with a time of 16:43. Ryan Miller was eighth in 17:42, Ian Hensley 17th with a time of 18:36, Nathanial Million 19th in 18:46 and Peter Kearns 24th in 19:05.

Arthur Ruano was 26th in 19:10 and Drake Burris 41st in 20:40.

Mason Cass led Southmont with a ninth place finish in 17:49, while Aaron Evans was 11th in 17:57, Brett Keller 36th in 20:22, Connor Keller 46th in 21:26 and Toby Casteel 62nd in 23:16.

On the girls’ side, Crawfordsville was third with a score of 56.

Southmont’s Faith Allen was the individual champion with a time of 19:05.

Crawfordsville’s Halle Smith was ninth in 21:38, Shelby Greene 10th in 21:33, and Elyse Widmer 12th in 22 minutes. Skylah Strawser was 14th in 22:17 and Olivia Biddle was 20th in 22:48. Gabby Warren was 22nd in 23:19 and Karla Fernandez was 25th in 23:34.

The Crawfordsville boys’ soccer team blanked Northview 10-0 on Saturday.

BOYS SOCCER: Tigers defeat Mounties

The Southmont boys’ soccer team dropped a Sagamore Conference match 3-0 to Lebanon on Saturday.

BOYS SOCCER: Cougars shutout Chargers

The North Montgomery boys’ soccer team was shutout by North Putnam 7-0 on Saturday.

BOYS TENNIS: Chargers fall to Trojans

The North Montgomery boys’ tennis team fell to Covington 4-1 on Saturday.

VOLLEYBALL: North splits at invite

The North Montgomery volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Seeger Invite on Saturday.

The Chargers fell to Seeger 2-1 (25-13, 20-25 15-7), and defeated West Vigo 2-0 (25-18, 25-21).

GIRLS SOCCER: North falls to Danville

The North Montgomery girls soccer team dropped a Sagamore Conference match 3-0 to Danville on Saturday.

The Warriors scored all three goals in the second half.
