Lula Ann “LuAnn” (Underwood) Fletcher, 85, of Greenwood peacefully passed away Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023, after bravely battling dementia and other terminal illnesses for nearly a decade.

Born Feb. 23, 1938, at Glasgow, Kentucky, LuAnn was the beloved daughter of Rondell and Georgia Terry (Helm) Underwood. As a young teenager, she and her family relocated to Crawfordsville, where fate would lead her to the love of her life, whom she married Feb. 24, 1956. In 2008, LuAnn made the move from Crawfordsville to Greenwood.

LuAnn is survived by daughter Teresa (Herschel) Newkirk of Crawfordsville and her two sons, Steven (Ami) Fletcher and Ron (Kim) Fletcher, both of Greenwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband Darrel Fletcher; son Tim Fletcher; and son-in-law Herschel Newkirk.

LuAnn leaves behind a legacy of love and family, with 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Throughout her life, LuAnn remained a devout Christian, a dedicated wife, and a cherished mother to her four children. She found immense joy in preparing meals for her family, creating delectable holiday treats, and cherishing precious moments with her dear neighbors and friends. LuAnn was an active member of the Southport Church of Christ until her passing.

The responsibility for organizing the funeral services has been placed in the care of Hunt and Son Funeral Home, 107 N. Grant Ave. Viewing services will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m.
