The Maple Grove Extension Homemakers met at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 15 at the home of Sandy Lightle with 10 members and two guests present.
Flag salutes, creed and mission statement was said by all. Roll call was answered by: what is your favorite summer salad.
Monica Nagele, extension educator, gave a balance lesson for health and safety. We all sat in our chairs and tried to work our feet and legs in exercises. Monica passed out directions on exercises to take home to try.
Judy McBride passed around a Lavinda Amish menu so we could all plan our meal when we go there for our September meeting.
McBride reported we had bought school supplies for the elementary school to store and use when students need them. This was our service project for August.
The Fall District Meeting will be Aug. 24 at Whitesville Christian Church. Ten members have bought tickets to go. The theme for the district meeting is “Wandering Montgomery County, Bicentennial 1822-2022. Members were reminded what they had signed up to take for the breakfast hour.
Jan Fay gave a very informative presentation on the history of Waynetown. Middletown was the original name given to the land when purchased in 1830. She listed family names of people through the years, told where businesses were and how it has changed over time. In 1893 an explosion in the hardware store caused a fire and destroyed all. It was interesting and everyone enjoyed the program.
The meeting was closed with everyone reading the club prayer.
Minnie Howard and Eileen Matricia served a delicious blueberry coffee cake and fellowship was enjoyed. The next meeting will be at noon at Lavinda’s on Sept. 19.
