Maple Grove Extension Homemakers

Posted

The Maple Grove Homemakers met at noon Nov. 20 at the 4-H Exhibit Hall with nine members present.

Judy Tulley was the hostess and she prepared a couple of different soups. Each member brought different sandwiches, cheese and crackers and, of course, we had desserts.

We had a short business meeting which was led by President Linda Miller with the pledge to the American Flag and to the Christian Flag. Roll call was answered with “What is your most memorable Thanksgiving family gathering”. Miller gave the treasurer report in the absence of treasurer Betty Jeffers. Carol Vice read a letter from Denise Walker who is with the Mental Health Association and they were requesting socks and ball caps. We decided, as we have done in the past, to give to different families for Christmas a gift card. We also decided that the hostess of each meeting would be responsible to call each member to remind them of the date, time and where our meeting will be held. The meeting was adjourned. Judy Tulley helped each member with making Christmas ornaments for us to take home. She really had her hands full with the group but she kept everything under control. Scissors and glue guns were quite busy, however, no one got burned or cut ! It was an ornamental event.

Our next meeting will be at noon Dec. 18 at the 4-H Exhibit Hall in Crawfordsville. Minnie Howard and Eileen Matricia will be the hostesses and it will be a pitch in luncheon and a short meeting. We decided that we would not have a Christmas exchange this year. We will have our usual Christmas Bingo that we all look forward to each year. Some of the prizes will astound you, some bring the ooohs & haaas and then there are some that will just take your breath away. It is always a fun time.

As everyone was leaving the word of the day became, have a “Happy Thanksgiving.”
