Our meeting was held at the Waynetown Baptist Church at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 21. The meeting was opened by Judy McBride where she welcomed everyone. We had the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag, Christian Flag, IEHA Mission Statement. Roll Call was answered with “Your favorite Dolly Parton song” with six members responding. The secretary report was read by Rita Kirkpatrick and approved. Treasurer report was given by Sandra Lightle. We had three birthdays in September, McBride, Linda Miller, and Kirkpatrick.
Old Business: The Fall District meeting will be held in Lafayette on Oct. 6. We were encouraged to bring gloves, mittens and hats for the President’s project. We will carpool for this trip.
New Business: International Night will be on Oct. 13 and the doors will open at 5 p.m. The speaker will be Lennon Woods who is a senior at Southmont High School and spent three weeks in France during the month of July. Tickets are $20 for the evening including the French dinner and needs to be purchased asap. We had two workers volunteer to help with the check-in at the event
Noodle making dates are Oct. 8, 21 and 22 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the 4-H Building. Don’t forget to bring something for lunch if you will be at the “white flour” event at lunch time.
If you are ordering nuts, Judy Tulley needs to have your order by Oct. 16.
Holiday Expo will be Nov. 7 and we signed up for the bake sale. We are to bring our baked goods to the 4-H Building on Nov. 6 from 5-7 p.m. or Nov. 7 from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Don’t forget to follow the packaging and labeling rules for your baked goods.
State President Michelle Roberts’ Heart Project was discussed and we were able to bring home samples and supplies for making our own hearts. We can make bookmarks, notepads and silicone hearts to mention a few things that we might give to someone and perhaps it might make their day.
We had a health discussion on measles.
We closed our meeting with the Extension Homemakers’ Prayer.
During refreshments we listened to music by Dolly Parton and enjoyed the dip and crackers furnished by Minnie Howard and Eileen Matricia. We did a lot of talking and discussed things we have heard about Dolly among other things.
Our October meeting will be held at the Waynetown Baptist Church on Oct. 19 and is our annual Auction. Bring those wonderful items you can no longer do without from now on. We always have a good time at this meeting. This is our money maker for the year and we donate as many gift cards at Christmastime as possible from the sale. Lightle will be the auctioneer and Howard will serve as treasurer during the sale. Look forward to seeing each of you in October.
