Margaret Kay (Scher) Montgomery, 72, of Lebanon, peacefully passed March 22, 2023 surrounded by her husband and family.

Kay was born Aug. 27, 1950, at Lebanon. She was the daughter of the late Russell and Maxine Scher. She married Kenny Joe Montgomery on Feb. 12, 1966. He survives.

Kay attended school at Lebanon High School. She worked for The Boone County State Bank, The Parr Firm, Lebanon Concrete Service, Boone County Treasurer’s Office, and KJM Trucking. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary where she held many positions. She was a member and leader of many organizations as she was raising her children. She also was a great bowler and played softball with the Legion Lassies.

To most, Kay was lovingly known as Mimi. All who knew her loved her and she loved them. Her generosity and warm heart will be remembered and celebrated by generations of loving family and friends. Mimi’s family was especially important to her. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She left a lasting legacy for all.

She is survived by her loving husband, Kenny Joe Montgomery; children, Scott (Susie) Montgomery, Tony (Jessica) Montgomery, Brian (Heather) Montgomery; grandchildren, Madeline, James, and Sophia Montgomery, Ashlyn (Jared) Magoline, Brooke (Ryan) and Hallie Montgomery, Brenden Montgomery and Brayden Myers; great- grandchild, Maverick Magoline; siblings, Russell (Sherry) Scher, Kathy (Jim) Witte and Karen Shockley and many nieces and nephews and a dog named Buddy.

In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Robert (Bobby) Montgomery.

Family and friends will gather Thursday, March 30, for visitation from noon until the time of the funeral service at 4 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon.
