Mary Lou Abbott Henry passed away Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024, at Ben Hur Nursing Home. She was born on March 26, 1927, to the late David and Ruth (Seybold) Foster.
She was a graduate of Crawfordsville High School, Class of ‘46. Mary and James “Bill” Abbott were married in 1952, until his passing in 1959. She was also the former wife of William Henry.
Mary worked for Indiana Bell and Montgomery Ward. She was a longtime member of the Smartsburg Christian Church. In her spare time, Mary loved watching westerns and listening to music. She enjoyed caring for dogs and cats, but the most important part of her life was spending time with family.
Mary is survived by her three children, Nancy Jeffrey, Patricia (Rick) Kinnett and Gregory (Linda) Abbott; step-son James T. Abbott; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and sister Patricia Yount.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband Bill; and siblings, Lucille Shahan, Robert Foster, Don Foster, Donnis Heath and Dave Foster
Mary had a compassion for taking care of animals. In her memory, memorial contributions can be made to a local animal shelter of your choice.
Visitation will be at Sanders Priebe Funeral Care, 315 S. Washington St., Crawfordsville, on Saturday, Jan. 20 from 10 a.m. until the time of memorial service at noon. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery North. Sanders Priebe Funeral Care is entrusted with care.
