Master Gardeners of Montgomery County is now accepting applications from Montgomery County students who are pursuing a higher education degree in any area related to agriculture, horticulture or plant sciences at an accredited Indiana college or university. Students at any level of their college studies, undergraduate or graduate, may apply for a $500 scholarship to assist them with their college expenses. The scholarship is not automatically renewable, but previous recipients may reapply each year.
Applications can be obtained by contacting Nancy Bowes at nbowesslp@gmail.com, from Tricia Herr at the Montgomery County Extension Office, or from guidance counselors at Crawfordville, North Montgomery, and Southmont High Schools. Homeschooled students and current college students are eligible and encouraged to apply. Completed applications are to be returned to the Montgomery County Extension Office, 400 Parke Ave., Crawfordsville, IN 47933. Applications must be received no later than April 8. Scholarship recipients will be notified by the end of May 2024.
Master Gardeners of Montgomery County is part of the Purdue Extension Master Gardeners Program. The Purdue Extension Master Gardeners Program trains gardening enthusiasts as volunteers to assist Purdue Extension with home horticulture education in Indiana communities. Purdue Extension Master Gardeners are “Helping Others Grow!” The Program provides a learning framework for participants to increase their knowledge on a wide variety of horticultural subjects. In turn, participants volunteer and help others grow by sharing knowledge while providing leadership and service in educational gardening activities within their communities.
