Longtime North Montgomery School Corporation Director of Business and Transportation, Jim McBee, will be leaving his post May 31. The corporation’s school board approved his retirement request at Monday’s meeting.

McBee has performed his administrative duties for 20 years. He has administered many projects in all the schools during his tenure including the major overhaul of outdoor athletic facilities which included the construction of the outdoor classroom and locker rooms. McBee led the remodeling of all five corporation schools and recently guided the recent locker room improvements at the high school.

North Montgomery superintendent Dr. Colleen Moran took a moment to honor the business administrator.

“We want to honor Jim McBee for his 20 years of faithful service to North Montgomery,” Moran said. “Mr. McBee informed us last spring that he was going to retire at the end of this year and we will have a special retirement celebration later this spring.”

North Montgomery has already started replacing McBee with internal personnel.

Assistant Transportation Director Clayton Randolph will take over the Director of Transportation duties on June 3. Glenda Nice will be the Treasurer/Business Manager.

Moran also gave honor to high school administrative assistant Mary Weliver who recently was named as the recipient of Indiana’s Compassion Award presented by the Indiana Association of School Principals.

The board recognized Sugar Creek Elementary and welcomed fifth grader Naomi Neal as an honorary board member. Sugar Creek was the highlighted school during the meeting.

The board also approved the 2025-2026 school calendar.

In other business the board approved:

· The March resignations of middle school Special Education Instructional Assistant Jacob Verduin and middle school language arts teacher Elizabeth Gilliam-Douglas. Middle school language arts teacher Latosha Copeland resigned effective May 28.

· The hiring of school bus driver Kassie Lowell, Dawn Lehman as district food service substitute, and Nikki Cogdill as temporary Administrative Assistant/Bookkeeper at Pleasant Hill Elementary.
