Michael L. Armstrong of Crawfordsville passed away Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023, at Franciscan Health of Lafayette at the age of 76.
Mike served his country in the U.S. Navy with two tours in Vietnam as part of the Construction Battalion. He worked in maintenance with the Crawfordsville School System, retiring in 2012. After retirement, he started his own business, M&J Locksmith. Mike had an eye for the mechanical. He was a member of the Whitesville Christian Church, VFW and American Legion. He played golf, participated in softball for many years and was in several local bowling leagues.
Born Feb. 15, 1947, he was the son of Leo Armstrong and Opal Armstrong of Frankfort. He graduated from Clinton Prairie High School in 1965. He married the former Jane Howard on May 19, 1984. She survives.
Surviving family includes: wife Jane Armstrong of Crawfordsville; two daughters, Tracey Armstrong and Tricia Beck (Mike); step-son Jason Bean (Tracey); six grandchildren, Joshua, Ashlyn, Destiny, Jonny, Jordan and Justin; two great-grandchildren; sister Donna Johnson (Matt) of Ogden, Utah; sister-in-law Betty Light of New Market; brother-in-law Don Howard (Sheila) of Wingate; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11 at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 W. Wabash Ave. Services with military rites will begin at 5 p.m.
