Montgomery County preps for 16th annual Taste

Organizers thank sponsors, seek volunteers

The idea that began 17 years ago as a fun summertime fundraiser for the General Lew Wallace Study & Museum has evolved into the county’s largest picnic and one of the area’s most successful summer festivals.

The 16th annual Taste of Montgomery County is returning to the grounds of the Museum in Crawfordsville from noon to 10 p.m. Aug. 26. Museum staff and a small army of volunteers are preparing for the most successful outing ever.

Some of Montgomery County’s finest restaurants, caterers and food vendors will be serving up their most delectable delicacies on the Museum grounds this year. Accompanying the delicious food available at the Taste will be fabulous live music from local and regional acts, representing the quality and variety that Taste-goers have always enjoyed. Three groups will perform from the Taste stage this year. From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., the Elizabeth Lee Band will perform. The energetic Midtown Madmen will take the stage from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. As a special headliner this year, Josh Kaufman, the winner of Season 6 of The Voice will be on stage from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

On the grounds, guests will be able to enjoy performances by local favorites, Emery Allen from 3:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. and The Bumps from 6:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

Advance tickets are $2 for students and $5 for adults. Tickets at the gate on the day of the Taste will be $3 for student tickets and $7 for adults. Advance ticket holders will also be able to get into the gate faster on the day of the Taste, as they won’t have to wait in line to purchase tickets.

Volunteer opportunities are still available for this year’s Taste. Volunteers receive free entry to the Taste and their choice of a Taste T-shirt or five food tickets. Those interested in volunteering should visit http://www.tasteofmontgomerycounty.com/volunteers/ to sign up online.

The Taste would not be possible without our generous sponsors. Every year the Taste Committee and the Lew Wallace Study Preservation Society Board and staff are amazed by the local businesses and individuals who contribute to this event and we sincerely thank them for their support.
