Mustangs sweep Red Ramblers

Fountain Central outscored Attica 15-2 in the fourth quarter on its way to a 50-43 win over Wabash River Conference and Bi-County rival Attica on Friday night in girls’ basketball.

Jerzi Hershberger scored nine of her 11 points in the decisive final period.

Dakota Borman led the Larissa Bowers led the Mustangs with 16 points, while Daota Borman added 12.

The Mustangs are now 4-4 on the season.

In boys’ hoops, the Mustangs were able to overtake Attica 51-45.

Fountain Central overcame a slow start by outscoring the Red Ramblers 35-19 between the second and third quarters to take a 42-30 lead into the fourth period.

Attica outscored Fountain Central 15-9 in the final period, but the Mustangs were able to hold on for their second win of the season to move to 2-1 and 1-0 in the WRC.

Mason Larkin led the way with a double-double scoring 17 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Freshman Will Harmon added 10 points, while seniors Carson Eberly and Andrew Shabi added eight and seven respectively.

Fountain Central hosts Western Boone tonight.
