Southmont senior Lexi Nelson capped her successful high school volleyball career by playing in the 3rd annual Indiana High School Volleyball Coaches Association Indiana All-Star game on Sunday afternoon at Lawrence North High School.
Nelson represented the Mounties, and helped the Class 1A/2A South team to a win.
“It was such an amazing experience playing with the best girls of Indiana,” she said. “Each player is extremely talented which is why it was so fun to play in this game.”
Nelson is the first Southmont volleyball player to earn statewide all-star notoriety.
“Being recognized as an all-star is so surreal because Southmont hasn’t ever had an all-star volleyball player. To be the first volleyball player for Southmont history is amazing because I finally get to proved all the work I have put into this sport. I’m just glad that I was recognized for this match and that I was supported throughout the whole process.”
Nelson’s volleyball career is not over though — she will continue next fall at Urbana University.
