On April 18, Angie Carver, Lesia Showalter and Staci Duncan were sworn in by Judge Darren Chadd to be Court Appointed Special Advocates. These women spent 30 hours training in person and doing outside of class reading. As CASAs, they will be advocating for children who are involved in the child welfare system. They get to know the children and their families by visiting, attending meetings, and having contact with service providers. CASAs submit fact-based reports to the Court detailing the family's progress towards reunification. If this sounds like something you are interested in being a part of, contact Kate Doty at kate@mcysb.org for more information.
