NEW MARKET — The 33rd Annual New Market Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be held Nov. 18 at CrossWay Covenant Church (formerly New Market United Methodist Church).
Organizers encourage everyone to join together for a traditional, homemade Thanksgiving meal with your family, friends and neighbors from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Delivery also will be available. Call 765-866-0703 by Nov. 14 to reserve a meal for either delivery or dine-in.
This annual meal started as a vision of Bob Tandy to reach out to those alone for the holidays and started in 1990 with a young adult Sunday School class serving 11 meals to the community. The meal has grown to more than 400 served each year.
Throughout the years, patrons starting leaving monetary donations in appreciation. All donations received are returned to the community by helping children and families at Christmastime. Currently, the church teams with the REINdear program through the Montgomery County Youth Service Bureau.
