LINDEN — North Montgomery School Board members received good financial news Monday. The school corporation will be saving $3 million in interest payments on its $35 million bond.
The bond will mature in 2039 and was originally financed at 5%. The new rate is 3.25%.
Superintendent Dr. Collen Moran credited the corporation’s financial advisor firm, Stifel, Ice Miller and Policy Analytics, for directing the process of refinancing existing bonds that originated in 2018.
“This was all about timing,” Moran said. “We have to thank them for getting this done at a time when interest rates were lower.”
The board approved 2026 asphalt work which includes the drive from the corporation office building and north to the middle school. Plans also call for repairing the sidewalks along the drive and inside the soccer complex. A new sidewalk will be added that will run from the soccer field concession stand to the bleachers.
