North Montgomery School Board members heard from Business Director Jim McBee on Monday that the corporation is in good shape financially.
McBee informed the board he filed the School Fiscal Indicators Report with the state. He said there were no issues in the indicators. Items like funds balances and the percentage of funds being held in three funds, which are Education Fund, Rainy Day Fund and Operating Fund, reflect no problems for the corporation.
McBee said two categories that bode well for the district are a steady enrollment and increasing assessed property values, which dictates the amount of funds received from the state.
The report can be viewed on the North Montgomery School Corporation webpage. Also available online is the improvement plans submitted by principals for each of the five district schools.
A student from each building was honored for their artwork and it will be on display in the board room. Students recognized were Finley Rice from Pleasant Hill Elementary, Grant Hess from Sugar Creek Elementary, Eloise Warnecke from Sommer Elementary, Madison Mullen-Harlan from the middle school and Willow Baily from the high school.
Superintendent Dr. Colleen Moran invited the board to a special parents meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the high school auditorium. A presentation will discuss internet safety and what popular applications students are using. The discussion will focus on the pitfalls of the popular applications and how to protect students from online predators.
Moran said a similar presentation for students will be made Friday at the middle school and high school. Students will be presented with similar information about social media safety.
Digital Forensics Investigator Shannon Taylor will give both presentations. Taylor is employed in the Tippecanoe County Prosecutor’s Office.
