Posted

North Montgomery High School is moving forward with improvements to its varsity soccer field.

On Monday, the school board approved contracts for lights and bleachers.

The board approved a contract with Tech Line Inc. in the amount of $293,356 for the soccer field lights. The field has never had lighting since it was constructed.  New bleachers will cost $80,850 and will be purchased and from Lee Company.

Funding for the improvements will come from the Rainy Day Fund.

Superintendent Dr. Colleen Moran presented Early Learning Academy rates which remain the same as last school year. The rate is $200 per month with a $50 registration fee. Moran reminded patrons that financial assistance is available for qualified families to pay the ELA cost.

Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten registration for the 2024-25 school year will begin Feb. 1.

Fees for Charger Kidz Zone, the corporation’s after-school childcare program, will increase $5 per student next school year. Moran said the increase will allow the program to meet expenses.

Business Manager Jim McBee presented the annual financial report to the board. McBee said the corporation is in good financial standing. The corporation earned $366,836 in interest and those funds were added to the operating fund.

In other business, the board:

• Approved the employment of Abigail Clark, food service substitute district; Jacob Verduin, special education at the middle school; Dianne Cooksey, administrative assistant at Sugar Creek; and Grace Shrader, food service substitute district.

Accepted a contribution for FFA Kids Against Hunger Event in the amount of $1,000 from Cargill.
