Tickets are still available for the annual Friends of the National Rifle Association banquet planned for Saturday at the Montgomery County Boys & Girls Club.
Tickets are $50 and include a meal, access to games, a silent auction and raffles. The event is a fundraiser for the NRA and youth programs.
Nearly 100 guns and other merchandise will be awarded as prizes this year.
Last year, the event raised $133,000. Proceeds are divided evenly with half going to the NRA and half going to support youth. Montgomery County 4-H was awarded $20,000 from the NRA.
Last year’s local banquet was ranked as the second largest NRA fundraiser in Indiana and the 10th largest in the United States.
“We have done a great job supporting the NRA and youth,” organizer Matt Nelson said. “Our funds go to teach youth the proper way to use a firearm. We believe if we get the kids educated, then we may not have as many problems as we do now.”
Deejay Billy Williams of Purple Sounds Entertainment will provide music.
“People who attend always have a good time meeting new and old friends,” Nelson said. “It is a fun evening and it is for a good cause.”
