Operation Round Up program awards funds to three nonprofits

Posted

The Parke County REMC Multi-County Community Trust Board met in June and awarded $12,721.88 to three area nonprofits through the Operation Round Up program.

• Putnam County CERT — $5,000

Funds will be used to purchase approximately 125-150 weather-alert radios for residents of Putnam County, improving access to emergency weather notifications and preparedness information.

• New Life Food for Life Food Pantry — $5,000

Funds will be used to purchase essential food items to help support local families and individuals experiencing food insecurity.

• FISH of Montgomery County — $2,721.88

Funds will support the purchase of organizational items for the clothing closet, including rolling racks, storage bins, room dividers for dressing rooms, and other equipment to improve accessibility and efficiency.

Thank you to the more than 9,000 Parke County REMC members who agree to have their monthly electric bills “rounded up” to the nearest dollar each month. This rounded-up money is then placed in the Multi-County Community Trust to be awarded by an all-volunteer Board of Parke County REMC members. Various non-profit groups, organizations, and individuals within Parke County REMC’s six-county service territory receive these grant monies.

The application deadline for the next cycle is Sept. 8. Applications are available at Parke County REMC, www.pcremc.com, or by calling
765-569-3133 or 800-537-3913.
