Orchestra performance was beautiful, skillful

Posted

On April 30, I had the privilege to attend the spring concert of the Wabash College Chamber Orchestra in Salter Concert Hall. Billed as a family and audience-friendly introduction to wonderful classical music, it was a delightful evening.

Orchestra musicians include Wabash students, faculty, and staff as well as musicians from the surrounding communities.

The Chamber Orchestra performed pieces by Beethoven, Wieniawski, and Brahms, and was conducted by Alfred Abel.  Wieniawski’s Violin Concerto No. 2 in D Minor is a challenging piece and I was impressed with violin soloist Benjamin Abel’s very skillful and beautiful performance.

Yes, it was a delightful evening and I want to thank everyone in the Wabash College Chamber Orchestra for sharing their love of music with the community.
