Parke County REMC completes construction of new facility

Posted

ROCKVILLE — Parke County REMC recently announced that the construction of its new facility is complete. The cooperative will open its new facility at 5001 E. US Highway 36, Rockville, on Monday.

The new facility consolidates all employees, materials and equipment to one location, more centrally located within their service territory.

The Rockville Town Board proposed purchasing Parke County REMC’s facilities located within the town in the spring of 2022. Parke County REMC recognized this as an opportunity for both parties while considering its future needs. The cooperative currently serves approximately 12,500 meters and 1,865 miles of line across rural portions of Parke, Putnam, Montgomery, Clay, Vigo and Fountain counties.

The electric cooperative has been located on the Rockville Town Square since 1947.

“This location served us well for nearly 80 years, but as we looked to the future, we needed additional space to accommodate our employees, members, supplies, and equipment,” said Chadd Jenkins, CEO of Parke County REMC. “Our cooperative has greatly expanded since being founded in 1937. We have had employees, materials, and equipment in three locations within the town. Our new centrally located facility will allow our crews to respond quicker while also making enhancements to serve our membership.”

The cooperative’s last day on the Rockville Town Square will be Friday. For additional information about REMC’s new facility, visit pcremc.com/new-facility or call 765-569-3133.
