Protest leader Shanna Turpin thanks participants after various downtown demonstrations supporting racial equality on Saturday. Meeting at Pike Place, a group of more than 100 supporters held a “lay in” at the plaza, all repeating Turpin’s words “I can’t breathe” for nearly nine minutes, before marching through downtown. Local police temporarily closed Washington Street at the courthouse to allow participants of the march to cross, which ultimately ended at historic Speed Cabin on the grounds of the Lane Place.
