The Parke Heritage High School and Parke Heritage Middle School Middle School FFA chapters competed in the District VII Leadership and Development Contest held at South Putnam High School on March 8.
Earning first place and advancing to the State Contest in June are Carson Rolison - Agriculture Sales Presentation and Brooklynn McMullen - Discovery Food Science Demonstration. Those earning second place in their contests were Cade Runyan and Brayton Myers - Agriculture Mechanics and Technology Demonstration; Grace Goldner and Paige Bishop - Animal Science Demonstration; Skyley Cloncs - Talent; Hayden Holcomb, Lydia Jeffries, Sarah Thom, and Addison Ramsay - Quiz Bowl; and Whitney Swaim, EmmyLou Rader, Noelle Blake, and Cohen Berry - Discovery Quiz Bowl.
Earning third place awards were Bradley McElheny and Stormi Swaim - Agribusiness and Farm Management Demonstration; Lane Helderman and Klayton Burgess - Food Science Demonstration; Madi Atkinson and Kim Koren - Horticulture and Landscape Management Demonstration; and Ella Norman - Freshman Prepared Public Speaking. Madison Coleman and Will Patton earned fourth place with their Plant and Soil Science Demonstration. Finishing in fifth place were Treyton Burgess - Employability Skills; Raegan Ramsay - Prepared Public Speaking; Madison Coleman - Premier Leadership; Hunter McDaniel and Ryan Mathis- Natural Resources Demonstration; and Alisa McMullen - Discovery Creed Speaking. Other competitors included Kailey Seay - Essay; Julia Carroll - Creed Speaking; Jessica Montgomery - Extemporaneous Speaking; and Destinee Stevenson, Serenitee Stevenson, Presley Coleman, Abby Mathis, Madison Coleman - Multimedia Scrapbook.
Also recognized at the event were first place Grace Goldner - Veterinary Science Proficiency Application and the Novice Chapter Meeting Contest team. Kailey Seay was recognized for her second place in the District Goat Production Proficiency Application and the Senior Chapter Meeting Contest team who placed third.
