Philip “Phil” Taylor Carrington, 97, of Russellville passed away Sunday, Dec.3, 2023, at Whitlock Place Assisted Living in Crawfordsville.

He was born Oct. 2, 1926, at Crawfordsville, to the late Alva and Della (Pyle) Carrington. On Dec. 20, 1953, he married Doris (Marsteller) Carrington. They shared nearly 70 years of marriage together. Doris survives.

Phil graduated from Russellville High School in 1944, then went on to Purdue University, where he graduated in 1950. He served proudly in the United States Navy, during World War II. Phil was a farmer. He loved farming with his brother Paul, and later his son Kevin, where they shared an 850 acre farm. He was a member of the Russellville Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years, a lifetime member of Russellville Community Church, Parke County REMC Board Member for 48 years, Wabash Valley Power Alliance Board Member, serving over 38 years, and a Free Mason, where he was a member for 75 plus years. He loved to watch sports, especially Purdue, and the St. Louis Cardinals.

He is survived by wife Doris Carrington; daughter-in-law Deanna Carrington; nephews, Keith (Becky) Carrington, Dave Carrington, Ken Carrington; sisters-in-law Ruth Ann (John) Fulwider and Linda Marsteller; and several other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Kevin Carrington; brother Paul Carrington; sisters-in-law, Ruth Carrington and Charlene (Chuck) Krominaker; brother-in-law Charles Marsteller; and nephew Cary Fulwider.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11 at Russellville Community Church, 103 Third St., Russellville, IN 46175, with Pastor Kelly Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in Hebron Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday. Servies & Morgan Funeral Home has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
