The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of David Wayne Jones, 45, of Crawfordsville.
According to a press release issued by the sheriff’s office, Jones was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on June 21. On Oct. 14, Jones was involved in a physical confrontation with at least one other inmate in a cell pod. Jones was transported to Franciscan Health Crawfordsville and released from jail custody at that time. He was later transported to Eskenazi Hospital, Indianapolis, where he died Nov. 16.
The incident remains under investigation and once complete will be turned over to the Montgomery County Prosecutor for possible criminal charges. At this time, other information will be released.
