The Boys & Girls Club of Montgomery County celebrated 70 years of service to local youth Thursday with a Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce popper celebration at the club’s facility on Whitlock Avenue.
Executive Director Gina Haile thanked donors, current and former staff members, board members and past and present club CEOs for their support over the years. Many of those supporters attended the celebration.
The club, founded to serve Montgomery County youth, focuses on helping members develop leadership skills, positive attitudes, educational success, good sportsmanship and strong friendships. The organization provides programs aimed at supporting the health, social, educational, character and leadership development of area children and teens.
Board member Mark Allen said the club is exploring a future expansion project that would include a new cafeteria and 10 to 12 additional classrooms. Allen said the project remains in the early stages and will require significant planning before becoming a reality.
