Byron Cox Post No. 72 American Legion baseball has won three of its last four games to improve its record to 7-3 on the season.

Last Sunday, Post 72 swept Kokomo and Rantoul, Ill. with 6-1 and 20-9 wins respectively. On Thursday they dropped a 14-1 setback to Terre Haute, before defeating Kokomo 9-6.

In the 6-1 win over Kokomo, Danville’s Tony Ramirez and Walker had two hits, while Walker drove in four runs. Ramirez picked up the pitching win with seven innings pitched, allowed one run on four hits, walked one and struckout 11.

In the lopsided victory against Rantoul, Ill. Walker and North Montgomery’s Jacob Braun each had three hits, while Braun and Fountain Central’s George Valencia, and Tri-West’s Matthew Harris each drove in three runs.

Austin Motz and Braun each drove in two runs in the 9-6 win over Kokomo. Valencia picked up the win on the mound, allowing just one earned run in 4 2/3 innings pitched.
