This past Memorial holiday weekend was the first major outdoor celebration of the year and a reminder that we will have guests to entertain at several events in the coming months. The Crawfordsville District Public Library would like to bring your attention to our fantastic collection of books that can help you prepare for the Summer Grill and Chill.

Derek Wolf takes you on a journey of discovery in “Foåod X Fire Grilling and BBQ” (641.5784 Wol). He talks about the best methods and equipment to be a successful outdoor chef. This book compares direct fire and indirect fire cooking and has more than 50 recipes. “The New Grilling Boåok” (641.5784 New) explores every possible way to prepare food with fire. This Better Homes and Gardens cookbook includes a glossary of terms, historical facts, realistic solutions, safety tips, and gadget reviews, as well as hundreds of recipes including homemade condiments.

Looking for a fresh way to prepare your hot-dogs? The “Haute Dogs” (641.84 Van) cookbook by Russell Van Kraayenburg gives you every possible way to top your classic cookout. Let this book inspire you from south-of-the-border to traditional BBQ to Japanese fusion. There is a delicious variation for every foodie. Need a drink to impress your guests? Favor a more sustainable and budget-friendly lifestyle by thinking small with “Just Mini Cocktails” (641.874 Zol) by Robert Zollweg. He demonstrates trendy ways to present alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages at your next gathering.

If you are searching for something with an exotic flair, “The Italian Grill” (641.5784 Neg) is for you. Learn how to grill Italian style with Micol Negrin. His book is full of clear, reliable recipes that use simple techniques and basic ingredients. Quench your thirst with a “Latin Twist: Traditional & Modern Cocktails” (641.874 Rod). This book by Vianney Rodriguez & Yvette Marquez-Sharpnack celebrates Latin cultures through the lens of classic beverages. It includes a map highlighting the locations that inspired their recipes.

Don’t forget the sides! “The Complete Salad Cookbook from America’s Test Kitchen” (641.83 Ame) is a delightful recipe collection covering hundreds of possible plant-based dishes, hot and cold. Consider “Simple Green Smoothies” (641.875 Han) created by Jen Hansard & Jadah Sellner as a healthy whole food drink option and a great way to satisfy guests of all ages.
