Rita A. Miller, 80, of Crawfordsville, died April 3, 2024.
She was born to Lowell T. and Alta Thompson Ottinger on June 23, 1943 at Crawfordsville. She was a 1961 graduate of Crawfordsville High School and attended Indiana Business College in Lafayette. On Sept. 20, 1975, she married Larry Lee Miller.
She worked as a dispatcher at the Crawfordsville Police Department and a jail officer at the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. After retiring, she was a dispatcher for STAR Ambulance service. She was a member of New Market Christian Church.
She is survived by husband Larry Miller; four children, Steve (Margo) Coil of Moline, Illinois, Scott (Sommer) Coil of Huntsville, Alabama, Suzy (Al) Koonce of Thorntown and Shawn (Sara) Coil of Dayton, Ohio; two step-sons, Cass (Pat) Miller of Tangier and Jeff Miller of Rockville; seven grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brother Rex Ottinger of Atlanta, Georgia as well as her parents.
Public graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pisgah Cemetery in Beckville, with Pastors Tony Thomas and Tom Richardson officiating. Burkhart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rita Miller may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
