Roger L. Hamilton, 75, lifelong resident of Crawfordsville, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024 at Franciscan Health Crawfordsville of health complications.

Roger was born to the late Walter O. Hamilton and Mildred Reynolds Hamilton on Jan. 13, 1949.

Roger was owner and operator of Roger L. Hamilton Excavating, retiring in October of 2023 after 50 years of operation. He was involved in the making of many projects in Montgomery County. He was also past owner of Diggers Café.

Roger was very proud of being a part of the F.O.P. Turkey Drive for many years, and having been a part of the building of the Crawfordsville Area Softball Association, along with several local fraternal organizations.

Owning a condo in St. Petersburg, Florida for many years until recently, he spent 15 plus years in the winter there and made many friends in the community.

Surviving Roger are his siblings, Jim (Sandy) Hamilton of Springfield, Virginia, Sharon Hamilton, Walt Hamilton, who was also his best friend, Cathie Randles, Cindy (Tom) Klepfer and Jacki Hamilton, all of Crawfordsville.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6 at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 W. Wabash Ave. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Burkhart Funeral Home, with Bishop Robert Miller officiating. After the service, he will be laid to rest at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
