Ronald L. “Ronnie” Breaks, 82, of Crawfordsville, formerly of Wingate, passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning, Feb. 25, 2024, at his home.

Ronnie was born July 14, 1942, at Wingate, son of the late Richard and Kathryn Dazey Breaks. He married the love of his life Brenda Kimble on April 23, 1971, in the Whiteland United Methodist Church. She survives.

Ronnie graduated from Richland Township High School in Newtown, having previously attending Wingate schools. He served with the Indiana National Guard 1962-1969. Ronnie was self-employed in the trucking business as an owner/operator of semis from 1958-1998.

He was a member of New Hope Chapel, American Legion Post 72, Moose Lodge #6, New Richmond F & AM #604, Scottish Rite-Murat Shrine and 32nd Degree Mason and Montgomery County Shrine Club. Ronnie loved country music and karaoke with his friends. He and Brenda lived in Brownsville, Texas for nine years before returning to Crawfordsville in 2018.

Ronnie loved spending time with his family. He always had a smile on his face no matter how he was feeling and could brighten your day! He loved his Moose and Legion family. He enjoyed trips to the IRP (Indy Road Pub) where everyone made sure he got home safe.

Surviving, along with his wife Brenda of 52 years, are son Brian (Beth) Breaks of Crawfordsville; daughter Gerri Sue (Mark) Rogers of Florida; grandchildren, Nathan (Taylor) Rogers, serving with the US Air Force, Nicholas Rogers (Kaitlyn Vesey), Meghan Rogers, Dalton Rogers, Mark Breaks and Tiffany Melvin; and great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Ayvah and Gaven Breaks, Jozlynn and Izaya Melvin, Kendra and Bentley Rogers.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Kathy Breaks.

There will be an informal gathering of family and friends 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 29 at the Moose Lodge, Crawfordsville. Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate is assisting the family.
